Lucky Number Seven: Treebird in the Time of Coronavirus

The question in each and every thing,
“Do you want this once more and innumerable times more?”
would lie upon your actions as the greatest weight
.

—Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science

It might seem like the greatest weight is upon us right now.

But we’re not dwellers at Treebird. We’re workers.

If anything, this pandemic has taught us that we all matter. We’re still busy as ever because our clients are busy as ever and their clients are busy as ever. It’s a cascade, a waterfall, and one drop influences the next. Oops, bad metaphor.

A look back at the Seven Years of Treebird

So sure, seven seems important. Wonders of the World, etc. But it’s only as important as the work we do each day. As the lives we make different, however small. We’re responding to new challenges for old clients, new challenges with new clients, age-old challenges with whomever has our email address and phone number. And you know what? It’s a bit thrilling and it’s a lot awful. But we’re also solving things together for the first time in a long time. We’re closer now, even as we’re more distant. We rely on each other because there’s nobody else to rely upon. We’ll get through this, we tell ourselves. And we have to keep telling until we start believing and keep doing.

In the wake of all the sadness and terrible news, it’s our job to make a modicum of meaning. Of hope. Of doing the right thing now so many more right things can happen in the future.

On our seventh anniversary, we’re here to help. Our greatest weight is also our greatest hope. To come through this together and be better on the other side.

Thanks for seven amazing years. Stay safe, and keep in touch. Also, wear gloves in public.
