In one week’s time, Treebird has brought Charlotte's Cadence Music Factory splash page to life.
Cadence Music Factory, a Greystar development, wanted to kick off their entrance into the Charlotte Market with an energetic and engaging splash page. Located in the heart of Charlotte’s music scene in The Music Factory, the property aims to turn heads with stunning duotone images and bright colors. They're, you know, a little bit rock and roll.
The lesson here: delivering quality work in a condensed time frame doesn't require cutting corners. Just the other easy stuff--vision, inspiration, work ethic, perseverance, and a client who knows what they want.

Day 2 of TBB Retreat Week had us exploring and connecting with our inner copywriter. We learned how to pare down long-winded notes, compiling only the most important facts. And created catchy, appropriate headlines. See the presentation below with some of our responses to the activities.
Why the West Highland White Terrier is truly the best dog.Westies, for short, are from the West Highland region of Scotland. Bred from, I don’t know- Cairn Terriers or something (?) they were used to hunt small vermin like rats and weasels and things. They were also used in small game hunts. Unfortunately, the possibly drunk Scotts kept shooting their own dogswhichis why they were bred to be white. Westies are smart, sporty and stubborn. Westies are also very intuitive to their master's feelings. They are very loyal and eye-contact with their master proves their devotion. In short, Westies are the bestie.

West Highland White Terriers are excellent creatures from the West Highland region of Scotland. They have a rich history as hunting companions and have been bred for success.
Pizza is the best food. You could probably eat it for every meal forever. There are so many different toppings to pick from, you could have a different one every day. No pizza is the same. You can even have different crusts, thick, thin, stuffed, or deep dish. If marinara isn’t your fave try pesto, BBQ, or even garlic butter for the base. People with all diets can eat it, vegans, gluten free, paleo, and vegetarians. The options are endless! You’ll never run out of funky new ways to make delicious pizza. Pizza is life, pizza is love.
How Pizza Ruined My Life
Pizza is my life. Thin crust, thick crust, stuffed crust, no crust. Vegetarian, vegan, BBQ, or pesto. The options are endless, and I’ve tried every single one. Now I’m fat.
Dungeons & Dragons, more commonly referred to as D&D, is a fantasy inspired tabletop roll-playing game. Several players get together and create characters which they then “act” as during the session, or campaign. The campaigns can take place anywhere, from a kingdom with knights and royalty to a magic forest cared for by the Druids. As a player, you have a wide range of choices for race and class, the two characteristics that make you who you are. The choices range from ranger (archery) to rouge (super sneaky types) to fighter (knights and swordsmen). The game as a whole is quite fun and has a secondary use of teaching communication, action in unusual situations, and problem solving.

I’m never too big on New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ve decided to try a couple of simple things. Nothing too crazy, simply cutting down my worst habits, being excessive spending and consumption. Less eating out and money on food in general, as well as smoking. I’m not looking into any sort of drastic lifestyle improvement, just having more money and a better body inside and out. Essentially, they’re just cosmetic and materialistic goals. I’ve also had the intention of posting more on social media. This is a combination of putting myself “out there” more, improving my social platform and networking skills, and creating a perception that my life is way cooler than it is.

New Year’s resolutions: awful, yes. But necessary when you need more money. Smoking, food, all gone. But social media is a new thing in my life.
The color blue represents trust and serenity. The sense of calm created by this shade references the ocean and coastal region the property occupies. Using this color will allow the viewer to gain a true sense of what [COMPANY NAME] had to offer.
Pulling from the original color palettes, we’ve incorporated blue throughout the branded materials not just for the location based coastal associations, but also to represent elements important to your history. The updated blues give a more contemporary aesthetic, emphasizing the sincerity of your company’s values and highlighting the trust that you have built with your clients .
Blue is the color of trust and serenity. By incorporating blue throughout the new marketing materials, we are referencing the original design while updating and contemporizing the overall brand. It ties the historical associations of the coast together with the calmness of a blue color palette.
Exercise #3 involved real life client situations and therefore has been redacted to keep client information confidential.

Challenge: The Indigo Road hospitality group, one of our longest-term and most enterprising clients, now counts 15 concepts to their name. You know what that means?
The Indigo Road also has more than 60 social media accounts to manage. To align. And to develop...wait for it...a social media graphics strategy around (Mercantile & Mash's instagram account has more than 11,000 followers alone).
So how have we learned to stop worrying and love social media? It comes down to a few important precepts.
For starters, social media isn't an add-on or a nice-to-have or a when-we-get-to-it medium anymore. Interacting with your fans on social media is every bit as important as greeting your customers face-to-face. The majority of consumers today follow their favorite brands, not only out of loyalty, but to stay in the loop on upcoming events, sales, giveaways, you name it.
And graphics matter. In fact, there are so few words in social media that graphics rule the roost and control the message. You can develop an airtight strategy but if your posts don't showcase beautifully rendered, professionally developed imagery, you're about to go from #damndaniel to #byefelicia.
And especially because most users are mobile, the only way to capture their attention when they're swiping through their newsfeed is with quick snippets of text combined with eye-catching photos.

Celebrating their 2nd Anniversary, Oak Steakhouse decided to feature a special throwback menu featuring dishes from their opening night, which utilized a familiar hashtag that users love and encouraged in-platform engagement. We created a vintage-inspired graphic that quickly and effectively informed followers of the special in a fun and interesting way.

The Cedar Room hosts monthly yoga classes, and utilizes Facebook's event feature to let followers quickly and easily sign up. The graphics that we create for them double as promotional features, as well as cover photos on the event pages.
We haven't truly been able to "hide" from social media for quite some time. But if you're not using it to your advantage by developing a coherent strategy (that desired outcomes, target audience identification, weekly schedules, and tracking) or employing professional graphics in service of your strategy, well, ask the Luddites how that worked for them.
